Amalgam

This is a material dentists use to repair teeth. It can be used for a tooth filling or to reshape teeth that have been damaged. Amalgam is very durable and resistant to wear. It is inexpensive compared to other materials such as gold. Amalgam is an alloy made of mercury, silver, tin, copper and other metallic elements.

According to the ADA, Amalgam has been thoroughly researched and is safe to use on dental patients. There have been concerns raised in regards to the use of mercury in Amalgam. It is the mercury that makes the amalgam stable.

However if you still have concerns about mercury in your mouth, you can look for dentists who are certified to remove amalgam safely and to restore  our teeth with other safer materials.
